Lights Will Guide You Home

My foot is still hurt.
I think my ligament is torn, or ripped, or stretched beyond it's capacity. Makes for lots of pain. My foot's gotten black and blue, too, around my little toes. I can't walk, and now my ribs and the rest of my body hurts badly from the hopping about, and the trying to move about with the walking-aparatuses. I'm in a lot of pain, mate.

Last night, the Talent for Life music show for Unicef, part of The Make Poverty History Project, went on, busted leg and all. Ari did my hair and make up, with Hama and Meister and Rick helping me out, since I couldn't walk or nothing. Only Rick went with me, which disappointed me, because the show was meant to raise money to end famine and all. We've got tons of money for movies and Uno's, but we don't have money for Unicef? Give me a break. The show was not bad, except for the technical problems and rude parents. There was a total mess with the microphones, the people who put the show together seemed totally crazily, unprepared. A lot of rock and emo music, which meant little amount of rap. Not that rap is the worst music ever, just not my favourite. The Unicef team made sure I was comfortable, and took lots of care over my busted leg.

I loved singing out there, even if behind the curtain a lot of people were rushing about like chickens with their heads cut off. That's why you have rehearsals, people. Remember: rehearse, always! Makes the little details click better. Once you forget about that, and the music's playing, and you're looking out into the crowd and you know you're singing and smiling, and you feel those cameras take your picture, and you feel the blood rush through you. That makes all the pain killers and all the stumbling worth the wait! You can look at a few photos, taken by my very own Ross Haflin, my best mate Rick.

See my leg, busted and all? Had to keep it lifted over the balcony all show long so the inflammation would lessen. Still inflammed, darn it. Had to wear my ballerina shoes, because any other shoe might've busted me even more.

You can see Ari's styling and make-up work. This is the Centre's restroom, and Rick -- those of you who know him -- loves mirror pictures. Sol and Corey praised his pictures last week.

The last pictures are me singing out there, taken from the balcony where Rick watched me. I couldn't move too much. See my sparkles?

Those friends of yours don't know what they're missing.
Heck! If I lived close by to you, you'd be tired of seeing my face all over the place-- You are amazing person!!! Plus, I admire you tons.

I wish my pals had more money and time (what they lack whenever I say let's go out) for me. They seem to have tons for other people. Hmmm.

That talent show will go down in my mind as the shoddiest event ever. I have to wonder if they weren't putting together 90% of it during the two hours it took them to start.

Which is not to say there wasn't talent [because there was] [and a girl guitarist took a solo] [rock on], just that the event planners should be shot.

That's what you get whne you put together a "fund raiser" -- you can't spend the money in good service, and all. Cuz then you'd end up doing a "Rolling Stones help Sar" -- you spend most of the money paying the "event" people. get me?

Now, I'll hide before Henry kills me, or beats me up.

I guess. But, meh, I dunno. The event was put together in order to raise money. That means that the money to put together the event didn't come from the fundraising [and shame on them if it did], but from themselves and/or sponsors. Apparently, they only raised a shoe-string budget.

[and no angry Henry icon this time]

The angry Henry icon's cool.

Listen, mate, sorry for being such a pain, what with my sore aching foot and all now me being worse than ever. But, thanks for putting up with it, Mr. Gruffy Bear.

Dealing with "sponsorship" and all, I know first hand than people don't get much money from them. Shame, eh? The real things don't get much attention, but Oscar Night gets a beebee of mula.

It's a fucking crime. I mean, movies are all well and good. But when people are willing to fork over hundreds of dollars to see movie awards being handed out, but something like Live 8 has to be free or only four cats show up...? It's fucked up.

So says Gruffy Bear. And Grumpy Dwarf. And Grumpy Bear. And, Hell, even Donald Duck.
